In the middle

Hi friends!
It's been 165 days plus in and now have lost 10.4 pounds! Hallelujah! So I am "in the middle" of my first year of weight loss!🤗 Worked my self up to walking 4 miles a day, eating right. My goal is🤔to lose 50 lbs by March 12,2022! At 66 it's quite a goal! I do know that I've learned a lot about how my body works and lots of patience. Discouraging is a tough word. I've had to fight it and keep on keeping on. Overall I feel so much better. My belly fat has come down tremendously since when I weighed 197! At 186.6 in about 6 months the difference is noticable! I can tie my shoes without holding my breath! I can see my feet without holding my tummy in. Actually feel more energy. Watching what I put in my mouth drinking lots of water and staying this active at my age has been tough!😉 But!! I found I can make a difference if I persevere!! Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance for the support!🥂👌💕

Perseverance is key so is patience! Maybe join one of those supportive monthly clubs, I realize most people are incredibly enthusiastic like 10 lbs a month, but I try to lose 4lbs a month - and they are wonderful! Also you can listen in on all the advice and struggles for hints tips and tricks. Since weight loss is around 80% nutrition and 20% exercise, it will be difficult to see without a good look at a diary and basic goals and trends. I am also halfway through 80lbs down 70ish to go. I am definitely going for the tortoise winning the race! The bunny ran out of stamina because he wasn't training and then got distracted by some junk food - and the tortoises are going... all... the.. way!!8

I've got a few years on you and certainly understand some of your struggles. It sounds like you have a great attitude and a handle on what you need to do. Great job so far!1

My husband is 66 and just started MFP with a 50 pound goal as well. @justanotherloser007 is 100% correct. Slow and steady wins this one!
I have thought about this a lot as I’ve tried to transform myself.
“Our” 66 doesn’t have to be the same as our parents’ 66.
I think our generation is on the cusp. There’s folks who’ve given in to being like their parents, and then there’s others who are redefining age. I want to be in that second group.
I don’t want to sit around grey, tired, dispirited, hobbling around, wearing a house dress (you’re 66, you know what I’m talking about!), complaining about my aches and pains and how annoying the youngsters are. I don’t want to give up.
Our neighborhood is an empty nester community, and most of us are similar ages. The wide range of health, appearance, mobility, etc surrounding me is fascinating.
I have found since I started, there’s a lot of pushback when you make the decision to improve your health and weight at an older age. People not aging well, whether by choice or not, resent those who are making the effort to.
Our generation is in a really strange, defining moment, like a line drawn in the sand of time. It’s like the have and the have-nots, only we have the choice to have.
Does any of this make sense?

Oh dear, I’ve gone and waxed philosophical.
Just like an old person.
