Adding exercise to daily diary

I am starting exercise, so I don't have a lot to enter. But how do you find the exercise for using light weight dumbells for arm exercising? I've searched weights, lifting, strength training. Nothing. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks!

Counterintuitive, but you need to use 'strength training (weight lifting, weight training)' under Cardio and enter the duration of your exercise session.

Under Strength you can add the individual sets and reps per exercise (for example 'standing biceps curl, dumbell') but you don't get a calorie burn there. I never use that side of the exercise log, I just use a paper notebook for that.

Thank you. I still can't enter Strength Training as it doesn't show up in the Search menu. I was able to enter my cardio okay, but not the dumbbells. I will just use a notebook then. Thanks again!

I'm fairly new to it and was put off that only "Cardio" calculates and discounts calories when added to the Diary. Most familiar with the Android app, it includes a "Strength" item in Cardio, but also a button to "Create your Own" exercise. I used some independent calorie calculators to "Create" and save parameters for a couple of workouts, but want the MFP Diary entry to manage daily calories and especially protein macro - that increases with exercise. The MFP automation seems simpler than keeping an independent record and repeatedly adjusting MFP food intake from that.

Pick "cardiovascular" as the exercise category, not "strength". You should find "strength training" there, within the cardiovascular category or heading. If you're using the phone/tablet app, make sure you have clicked on the "Browse All" heading within the search.
