Apple Watch and steps

Hi there

My Apple Watch records my steps and thus should take a calorie adjustment based on that.

However if I ride my bike it cancels out any steps calories and thus I only have the excercise adjustment for cycling not both.

Is this as expected.

I don't have an Apple watch myself, but from what I've read Apple doesn't send the right data to MFP, which gives glitchy results. The solution would be to use the Pacer app as an intermediary app: sync your Apple watch to Pacer and sync Pacer to MFP.

Apple does share data with MFP for workouts, but not for just everyday move calories. If you want to count the steps in MFP, you should record an outdoor/indoor walk.

For the method you are using of telling MFP app to get step count from Apple device - yes expected.

MFP has no clue if timing of steps was part of the workout - so to be safe from double-counting the workout calories are removed from what it thinks might have increased your daily burn.
It's only steps that it gets, the distance and calories burned for them is not received.

Be glad though - if you actually had accounts linked and Apple sent it's incorrect info - you'd get no credit for increased daily activity at all ever, and your workouts wouldn't count either, despite being displayed.
