I am looking to buy a HRM and would like one that syncs with my fitness pal, so the choices are body media or a fit it. Does anyone have recommendations or advice before I purchase?

Fit bit isn't a hrm it's a pedometers with additional benefits but it's not going to give you a calorie burn (accurate one) during exercise. I have a polar ft60 which I love! Lots of posts on these devices if you do a search you.'ll find pros and cons of both

Neither Fitbit or Bodymedia are HRM's. These devices are daily activity trackers. You can find a comparitave review of some of the major brand activity trackers here:

Fitbit and Bodymedia are meant to be worn all day long and help you to get a better estimate of how many total calories you burn in a day.

A HRM on the other hand is only meant for steady state cardio.

I use a combination of a Fitbit Zip (cheapest fitbit model) and a Pyle Sports HRM ($30 on amazon). My fitbit zip tracks my movements throughout the day and is good for walks/runs. Any form of exercise I do outside of walking/running is tracked with my HRM. I believe the combination of the two give me the best idea of what my TDEE is for any given day.
