How often do you actually hit your goal caloric intake?

I looked at my report for 90 days of my caloric intake and realized that, quite often, I go over. I love eating at restaurants and I generally try to make wise decisions but restaurants still seem to have high calorie foods, no matter what. I keep getting disheartened and feeling like a failure because I tend to go over my daily calories. Sometimes I'll go a full week of doing this, and not lose any weight. Is this just normal because, really, how realistic is it to spend our lives only eating our daily caloric intake? Sometimes I have a sweet tooth that lasts a full week...
Basically I'd just like to know how often you actually eat the amount you're supposed to, and how often you go over (per week or even monthly).
Thanks!!
