Stronglifts 5x5 mini cut

I’ve been on strong lifts 5x5 for 4 months and have made great progress. I’m hitting my first deload and was wondering if I could do a mini cut during the deload to drop a little of the fat I gained. I’d like to do a 750 calorie cut per day for 3-5 weeks to drop 5-8 lbs of fat before starting to eat again when the weight gets heavy. I’m at 21% body fat currently and would like to keep strong lifts going a little longer before doing a proper cut.

This is my first bulk. I started this bulk at 14% body fat and was at 18% before I really understood what I should be doing; so wasted some time and want to keep going. What you you think, bad idea?

Thanks!

If you want to cut, move to a hypertrophy program that has more appropriate volume to drive progress and retain muscle mass.

If you stalled on SL you are better off regardless as that program isn't optimal once a lift starts stalling.

Running that program past its usefulness is one of the biggest mistakes I see lifters do.

I just want to do a quick cut so I can keep going without getting too fat. I think there is more to be gained with the program…

3 days in and I’ve found that a 750 cal cut is just too much; dying after my first workout. Going to try 300 cal cut instead…

    👍

I'm sure there is more to be gained. In the long term, it really doesn't matter what you do here. Hopefully you will be training for a life time.

What I'm saying is a more advanced program that focuses on hypertrophy would more than likely yeild even better results for the short term & the goal you stated when we compare SL vs. Hypertrophy with more appropriate volume and particularly average intensity.

If your dead set on running it on a deficit....have at it 😊. I'm just giving you my best advice on your individual scenerio and what I would do in your situation.
