How to measure portions

Hi everyone,
I am new to MyFitness. I am trying to figure out the portions.
My food weighing machine displays in grams.
In the app, it shows one serving, but there is no indication of the number of grams. Can someone tell me how many grams is one serving?
Also, is there an option to log by this measurement?
Thank you
Sowmya

Grams are the absolute best "portions"
Most "portion" entries are probably not the best entries available either! So the issue is not you; it's the database!
Above links are probably good.0 -

Yes, I avoid "serving" entries like the plague! Sometimes I have no choice, like with the dessert at a family dinner, but I make this the exception rather than a regular practice. I mostly eat food I've cooked so it's rare that I need to use an entry like that.
Unfortunately, the green check marks in the MFP database are used for both USER-created entries and ADMIN-created entries that MFP pulled from the USDA database. A green check mark for USER-created entries just means enough people have upvoted the entry - it is not necessarily correct.
To find ADMIN entries for whole foods, I get the syntax from the USDA database and paste that into MFP.

Use the “SR Legacy” tab - that seems to be what MFP used to pull in entries.
Note: any MFP entry that includes "USDA" was USER entered.
For packaged foods, I verify the label against what I find in MFP. (Alas, you cannot just scan with your phone and assume what you get is correct.)1 -
You should be seeing two boxes. [X] servings of [X units]. The second box may have a drop-down menu so you can choose other units. Look for entries that have 100 grams or an option of 100 grams in the drop-down menu. Ideally, you should cross check the nutrient information with your package label or, for "whole foods" or commodity items, with a reliable third-party source like the USDA nutrient database, mentioned above.0
