Help

Hi guys. I'm turning 52 this month, gave up smoking 3 years ago, lost 30kg 4 years ago. I've now put 10kg back on and I'm desperately trying to lose it. I seem to be emotionally eating which I know I need to stop immediately but also I am limited to exercise as I've had a couple of injuries in the past 4 months including 2 nasty falls while out speed walking that resulted in straining each ankle and hurt an elbow and on top of that my joints seem to be in constant pain. Waiting for a Dr's appointment but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone had any exercise suggestions.

What exercise can you do with your current injuries - can you cycle without your ankles complaining?
Rowing another possibility but again depends on how your ankles react.
Swimming might be an idea for easy on the joints / non-impact cardio exercise.

Strength training is almost infinitely adjustable to work round restrictions and injuries and a combination of cardio and strength training is a great idea for most people.

I would be very conservative with any exercise until you have discussed your joint pain and injuries with your doctor.

That said? I love my recumbent elliptical. You can go easy on it until you get advice from your doctor.

If you have access to a rowing machine that might be ok for you....it just depends on what you are able to do without pain in your injury areas.
But yeah, get your general joint pain figured out too.
