Consistency...

This is where it breaks down. I go to the gym for a couple days, or track meals for a couple days, but something comes along and details the logging.
I feel like if I miss a few days of logging, I'm basically done and have to start all over or quit.
Anyone else get that vibe? Or is it just me?
I'm not trying to give up. I just start back over with a new day of logging.

Do you try to start logging AND exercising at the same time? I've found creating one good habit at a time works best for me. For example: start logging everything, no exceptions, but without imposing a calorie goal. After a few weeks, start sticking to a calorie goal (best to choose a reasonable weight loss rate, not too agressive).
Exercise can come afterwards. Gradual is better here too. I exercise quite a lot now, but if I had started at that frequency from the start, it wouldn't have worked. I started by increasing my step count gradually. At a certain point my fitness had improved so much that I started to run instead of walk and I gradually added other types of exercise too. The increase in frequency also came gradually, in quite an organic way.
Also, where exercise is concerned: make sure you're doing things you actually find pleasant! Exercise doesn't have to be torture That will also help a lot in creating good habits.6 -
Just start again. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.
In other words, set your goal to log 90% of the time. Or 5 days a week. Or to just log breakfast. Or to start again each time you feel like quitting. Or whatever is just a smidge easier than wherever you tend to feel the need to bail.
Set your goals to be achievable and sustainable. For you, in your life, in the real world with your challenges that you face.
Especially at first. You can hone them and make them more challenging as time goes on, if they seem too easy.1
