My town is currently getting rain, real rain, for the first time in a couple of years. We're at the tail end of an atmospheric river, a weather event that drops tons of water, in our case mostly in the form of snow, but at lower elevations the snow opts into rain. This event is the marriage of the river with a bomb cyclone event (large drop in barometric pressure).
