So i'm considering getting a fitness tracker. Would like one under $100CAD if possible. I walk alot, usually do a 9km every morning that I track with my phone and was thinking one of the wrist trackers may be a better way to go. Any recommendations? I am looking online to see reviews but seeing if anyone has one they love.
Or maybe they aren't even worth it?
(I did search the threads and didnt see anything more recent than 5 years)
Thanks!

The cheapest is to use an app on your phone, assuming you have a phone. The FitBit Inspire II is on sale for $60 right now. It appears to have all the features of the fitbits I owned several years ago. I really liked their companion apps and battery life.

(I have a Garmin now, but it cost over $200.)

    Best of luck!

I love Garmin as well. I have a more expensive model, but the cheapest Garmin is $99.99CAD (and that's the official price, perhaps some retailers sell it for less):

i had a fitbit for years and years and years. never the newer fancier models. the inspire hr i think was the newest model i had. It did everything I wanted it to, and had few problems with it. battery life was decent. average lifespan was a couple of years? seems i had to replace every 2 or 3 years. I did not use the fitbit app at all. I just synced the data to MFP for activity level and would look at stats on my phone. Never did their challenges or anything like that, but i know a lot of people do. Did use their food database to loosely track my hubbys food for awhile (he needs to gain weight) and did NOT like it at ALL. Sometimes syncing with MFP could be glitchy, but mfp is glitchy in general, so.... yeah.

just last week i upgraded to an apple watch and overall am liking it, but it is a big change, and not what you are looking for price wise.

If you're primarily looking to track steps, then there are a bunch of decebt, really cheap kid's fitness trackers out there that will fit most adults.

If you don't need a watch version, a basic pedometer can be tossed in your pocket, clipped to your clothes, or kept on a lanyard around your neck when walking.

If you want all the bells and whistles of heart rate, SP02, sleep tracker, other health metrics, then the higher quality watches might be the way to go, the cheaper options get terrible reviews for accuracy.

I had never had a tracker and wasn't sure I could tolerate wearing one, my skin doesn't like metal and plastic. So I bought a used Fitbit Versa 2. I don't care about steps because I can't physically go for walks, I wanted it primarily for heart rate and sleep metrics.

What is it you're trying to track that you can't track with your phone? Most of the less expensive watches are pretty useless when it comes to HR accuracy.

I honestly just think it is a matter of personal preference.

I have an older garmin and an older Fitbit, neither of which I use. I liked the garmin when I ran, but that was years ago before I had a smart phone. The Fitbit was never my thing. It never seemed to work right and it was more annoying than anything, since I was more interested in tracking my deliberate exercise rather than steps throughout the day.

Now, I use the Strava app on my phone when I go for my daily walks. It’s easy to use, I always have my phone with me, and I don’t have to worry about remembering to charge yet another device. I can still use my music app and Strava will verbally tell me over my AirPods when I hit each mile.

If you want to try a fitness tracker, but aren’t sure you’ll like it, I would suggest buying a used one on eBay. If it turns out that you love using one, you can always upgrade it.
