Little victory

I really hate posting pictures of myself, let alone "gym progress" photos... so go easy on me :)

I am only a couple of months into my journey, but I thought it might be important to discuss my last few weeks. I lost 14lbs in the first 5 weeks, then it stopped. I did some research as in the past, I would have given up and gone back to my old ways. I was reading an article that goes into details about how, if you are strength training, the scales are not your friend. The "weight loss" might have stopped, but the "fat loss" (providing you are in a deficit) continues on a downward trend. 3 weeks after this, I dropped 2lbs and now I know for next time, If I stick at it, the fat loss continues and the scales will catch up.

Not sure if it is some kind of mild body dysmorphia, but I never see changes in the mirror. I decided to take my first photo a few weeks in, then the next one a few days ago. I was actually quite shocked to see the changes. There is still a long way to go but I feel this will be the first time I don't fall off the bandwagon :sunglasses:

If you are looking for a new MFP friend for support and motivation, I am on every day if you wanna add me

Taking pictures has helped me motivate myself beyond my initial expectations. Still use the scale but photos are a slower reward and I look forward to comparing month over month. Keeps me focused longer on goals! GL

100% - I will be doing a photo every 30 days and continue to weigh myself at the same time, under the same conditions on the same day of the week. I do weigh myself most days just to keep an eye on the trend but officially log on the same day. Keep up the focus and good luck!

Unless you're sucking in your gut(which is what *I'd* do :/) you've made some very healthy progress!!! Congratulations and thank you for the reminder that scales don't tell us everything. :)

Great progress! I know what you mean about seeing changes in the mirror. I can not see it in the mirror for myself either.

Pics don't lie. :) Well done!

I was actually breathing in more in the first pic 😂😂 I think the lighting helped in the second one.

Your face and neck look different, too - a bit sleeker. It could be partly lighting, but I think there are visible signs of your loss. Good show!

Photos helped me “see” both my loss, and then my “oops too much lost” loss.

Photos are rock solid visible evidence your brain can’t deny. You are wise to keep a photographic record.

I definitely see a difference. Good job! Keep it up!
