silver linings

I listened to Matthew McConaughey's Greenlights yesterday, and I'm reminded that attitude and mindset can have a dramatic impact on how you experience your experiences. And as someone that naturally tends towards sad and skeptical, I thought this could be a good exercise.

The situation:
Living in the northeast US, it's getting cold. The momentary beauty of fall is long since past, and the gray, dead winter is upon us.

The silver lining:
It's been SUCH a wet summer that I haven't had much time on the trails recently. With colder temps comes frozen ground, which means the trails will firm up and might be runnable/rideable again.

If anyone else wants to participate, go for it. The only requirement is that the situation and the attitude be relevant and personal to you and your life. Nothing overly grand or abstract or whatever. Keep it personal.

I am abstaining from socialising and it's getting just as hard as I anticipated. I have to remind myself constantly what pulled me away, but it's still driving me insane at times.

I also have to be careful about working out regularly, for the mere reason of not losing momentum. Motivation goes hand in hand with discipline w.r.t. sleeping and I'm not good at that. Not good at all.
