Life has been hitting me hard lately

I need some support and motivation, after a divorce and other relationship problems I have been slacking on my diet/exercise. I had an 800 consective day streak going and let it go because I stopped caring. I then created and deleted 5 or 6 different accounts and deleted all of them because I just couldn't cope with all of my real world problems. I need support and motivation. Some of my old friends will recognize the variation of my original name with this one. I would love to have my friends back and have their friendship and support as well as new friends.

Lately I have been feeling sorry for myself but I read this quote and it cheered me up.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it…

You’ve gotta hit as hard as life. It isn’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much can you take and keep moving forward? That’s how winning is done.

If you know what you’re worth, Go out and Get What You’re Worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying you aren’t where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that.”

Sorry to hear you have been going through a rough time. Last year when my mum's cancer was diagnosed as inoperable, I struggled to keep going. Losing weight at the time was out of the question.

Now the problems are still there, but somewhere I have found some willpower and determination.

I am back on track and hope you will be soon too.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. There's a whole community here that are always willing to help out and support you. :)

Great job on coming back, that's the first step done! :)
  • I feel for you as my dad just had bladder removed due to cancer. The summer has been spent in hospitals and taking care of my parents. I am now up 10 lbs over 3 months and got back on track. Sometimes life gets in the way of all my discipline but... I know to get back on track. I want to be healthy and happy to take care of my family and especially my parents.

I learned a lot about myself sitting around in hospitals with only time and quiet. I know my trigger foods and can predict the overeating. We can do this and overcome issues that will always be there.
  • Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement. I had forgotten that there were so many good people in the forums. Once again thank you, you have touched me and lifted my spirits.

Thank you so much for the Rocky quote. Life has been hitting me pretty hard lately, too, and I've really been flailing. The quote helps a lot actually.

Hang in there, it sounds like you're trying to move in the right direction. I'm sorry for your troubles and hope you can get going again. Welcome back to MFP and good luck! :)

I'm back again too.... As you can see from my profile I've been around MFP for a long time. I am returning after I realized I wanted my life back. I am back here because I know MFP works, I lost over 80 on it before. I gained it all (plus some) back during family issues with my step-kids and my husband's Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He's healthy again and now it's time for me to get there too. I love the motivation and support that comes from MFP. Best of luck to you. Please feel free to add me.

    That quote is pretty perfect.

I lost 60 pounds a few years ago. I gained all of it plus 10 back and my life has been really, pretty good. So the fact that life has been trying to knock you down and you're still determined to push back is very admirable.

    I understand hard.

The last year has seen my family help my mother-in-law try to fight lung cancer. She lost that fight and we nursed her ourselves both physically and financially until the bitter end on July 21 of this year.

My step father is currently dying in hospice.

My mom was diagnosed Monday with Lymphoma (cancer) not sure how bad yet or which one.

And my oldest daughter is in long term treatment for a mental illness 3 hours away.

Yeah. I get hard. I know it well.

Chin up and pray. You are not alone. One day at a time.
