New and Disabled.

Hi. I’m Sophie and after much research I'm going to try do calorie counting. Im wheel chair bound, tachy, breathless and weak so the only way I can loose weight is by controlling what I put in my body. Is anyone else in the same situation and not able to exercise? I have previously lost 2 stone but have put it all back on through comfort eating. Would love to meet new people and chat whilst loosing. Is everyone using this ‘free’ app or has anyone paid and gone premium. Tia x

Hi! I’m not disabled but currently unable to exercise due to a high risk pregnancy. I did the trial of premium but didn’t really see enough difference to pay for it.

Put wheelchair in the search engine and you’ll find many great threads.

Weight loss is made in the kitchen, as you’ve already found.

I found this woman particularly inspirational:

Please please come back to the boards with questions and share advice once you’re successful yourself. That doesn’t have to be goal weight. Sharing how you lost twenty could be what someone else needs, even if only for that day. That’s success right there.

    Much success to you!

PS I lost almost a hundred pounds on the free version. I then subscribed because I want this app to be profitable enough it’s around for many many years to come. There’s benefits to both. Free is always good, but I like the extra perks that paid gives me, mostly because I track a particular macro very carefully, and like to know if it’s low early, so I’m not scrambling later trying to “make up” the shortfall. Or vice versa, if I’m high earlier in the day, that gives me a bit more freedom with dessert after dinner.

I use the free app currently, but have used the premium features before. Most of the battle of weight loss is found in the kitchen, as @springlering62 has said and as you know, yourself. When you eat for comfort, that makes the situation challenging because comfort needs to be placed elsewhere and that, in my experience, can take some time and work. But you can do it! Hugs and support to you!

I'm also disabled and have never had any problems losing weight without exercise. I lost ~80lbs with sustainable, healthy, permanent diet changes.
