Hi there
Iām new to MFP and it seems thereās a lot to take in, so here I am. Iāve never logged before so Iām giving it a go in the hope that it gives me some insight and helps me make better choices.
Iāve worked from home for over 5 years and over that time, the social circle has, understandable, fizzled away. I canāt even use Covid as an excuse, as I was on the WFH bandwagon way before that.
As a result, itās been hard to drag myself off to the gym on my own but having seen some recent family health declines, Iāve realised Iāve got to sort this now before itās too late.
Iām hoping that I can create some connections on here as weāre all trying to reach our own goals for our own reasons.
Take care, stay safe, and have a great 2022!

Welcome to MFP @Quiet_C
Family declines, i e seeing the handwriting on the wall, was one of the things that prompted me to -literally- get off my *kitten*.
I suggest logging in a few days of what you ate in a previous normal day, or over Christmas. For me it was eye opening.
MFP was recommending me about 1900 calories at the time but I was eating easily five times that. That was a shocker and made me take this seriously.
It doesnāt have to be the gym, btw. Simply walking is a super exercise, gets you away from your desk, clears the cobwebs, and requires no equipment other than great socks (worth the money) and good quality shoes.
Maybe stick a lunchtime or after dinner walk or both in your schedule while you focus on the learning curve that is logging?1 -
@springlering62 Thank you. Youāre so right about the going for a walk part. I used to make time in my day to do it but with homeschooling and all the associated madness that went with it, it went out of the window. I started to feel like my work breaks were time to do household things. Iāve never managed to get back to a decent routine.1
