Equalizers/dip bars recommendations

No, not a specific model but more the right type. In all my previous flats I had a useful corner somewhere where I could do dips when I felt like it. Here: nothing at all. And my chairs are not suitable either. I consider buying a cheap pair of dip bars. Was thinking adjustable in height, with wide enough padding on the grip, and not connected due to lack of space and not wanting to have a sports thingy always in the middle of the livingroom. Bit in doubt though: the cheapest I found are around 50 Euro, and reviews say that the grips are rather big for small hands. Return is of course an issue with such big items.

I don't think you're going to find anything much cheaper. Have you just considered not doing them or doing alternative things. Narrow pushups or using stairs (or a chair) to do tricep dips.
I like dips too but it seems like diamond pushups and tricep dips would give you the same benefits and remove the necessity of special equipment.0 -

I don't have another option inside my flat. I also like doing under table pull-ups and leg raises and don't have anything useful for that either. So the bars would fix that problem. I currently can't even do normal push ups, so diamond pushups are totally out of the question. I'm the weakest strength trainer, having a medical muscle conditionBasically, I might get to 6 pushups eventually, get sick again, start at the beginning again. So yeah, I'll likely never be able to do an actual dip, but a girl may dream, and this is a dream of mine

Oh, so.. I want such a thing. I just find it difficult to chose one as I'm worried the grips will be too thick.0

Perhaps get gloves and get one unpadded?? Maybe that would solve your worry about the padding being too thick.0

Hmm.. good idea! Maybe I can remove the padding and indeed use gloves. The only unpadded ones I can find cost around 140 Euro here. I'm sure I'd be getting a quality product, but to be honest: nope! I don't want the dip bars that desperately

That's surprising at the cost. I'm finding well built ones in the US for around $60 USD. I believe you're in Europe but that's higher than I would have ever imagined them costing.0

Yeah, lots of things are a lot more expensive here. Sigh. I'll probably buy one next month. Trying to safe a bit of money at the moment.2 -
You may hate this idea, but what about a pair of yoga blocks? They are cheap, light, sturdy, and have three different heights. Can also use them to assist with reverse push-up, reverse plank.
Just an idle thought.

No, good idea! I have yogablocks, but I just wanted something higher. In my old flat I had a balcony with a 90 degree angle, which wasn't ideal (and it was 2 floors down from there) but it was still very useful for me. Here I have nothing of that sorts. It's a great flat though. Thus not complaining.0 -

An balcony at 90 degrees sounds terrifying, though what I visualize is probably not what you meant.
We do a thing in yoga where you sit, put your hands beside you and push them into the ground to lift your butt off the ground. Blocks gives you more room to lift. You lift one leg at a time while you’re dangling. Ultimate goal is to lift both legs and hold but that’s freaking hard.0 -

I just saw a gal on Tiktok doing this. She made it look so easy...
Seems like replacing two chairs for something sturdier might be more practical than the more expensive option. I always liked our dining chairs. They're restaurant overstock, so very heavy and sturdy. My dad feels safe sitting down, and they're great for dips0 -
Haha! I tried this, and can't get my butt off the ground at all. I need something higher. And my Danish 50s vintage chairs are not really suitable for that as they have round things everywhere (but are so pretty). I'm not an impulse buyer. If I still want dip bars next month then I'll buy them.1
