39 y/o F here! 100+lbs to lose! Let’s do it.

A little about me:

I’m a nurse struggling with 30lbs of pandemic weight added to 80+lbs that already needed gone.

I’m short, hypermobile (I’ve spontaneously blown both knees out, and most other joints randomly dislocate), and I lose interest in exercise programs like it’s my job. Between those things, and all the pandemic stress, it’s been rough.

I’d like to lose 100-120lbs over the next year to year and a half.

OMG, are you me? I'm short and I've also got 100 lbs to lose (well, I've lost 20 so far, so 80 still to go) and I'm trying to do it as much as possible through diet, as exercise isn't an option because everything dislocates.

Short, hypermobility weight-loss hack: have someone else put all the high-calorie snacks on high shelves. My short arms, combined with the fact that my shoulders dislocate when I reach up over my head, means those cookies might as well be on the moon.

Seriously, though, I am trying to increase my regular day-to-day movement, since a major exercise regimen doesn't seem to be in the cards for me. One way I've done this is, I've been somewhat inefficient with all my walking, just to get more steps in on the regular--I used to carry all my groceries in one trip, or drop off someone's paperwork at the office on my way to the breakroom, etc.--now I just do multiple trips. Stairs instead of elevators, parking far away from the door, etc. I do also have a regularly-scheduled daily (nightly) walk around my neighborhood, just to have some time to myself and enjoy watching the stars come out. But I have a very sedentary job--as a nurse, you're probably on your feet a lot more, anyway.

I see a lot of folks on here saying weight loss is done in the kitchen--exercise can help, and is important for overall wellness, but ultimately, it's diet that'll take the day. And not "diet" like weird crash diets--I mean sustainable lifestyle changes we're good with doing for basically forever. One thing I've been focusing on is improving my mental health/relationship with food, and that has SERIOUSLY helped.

Good luck to you! You got this!
