Water intake

Do you count drinking tea as water intake (in the little water glass at the bottom of your diary)?
I am talking about tea which is plain, herbal tea, no calories, no sugar, and no milk added.
Thanks!

I count it as water as long I don't add sugar or milk to it. With sugar I add it seperately in the diary.0

i created a "snack" called drinks and put all of my fuids in there, including water. i don't bother with the water tracker. i count my water using "municipal water" from the data base, although i also drink tons of bottled water. i just look it as water is water.0

If it is decaf, count it.
If it caffeinated, then only count half.0 -
There is a listing, under food, for Homemade unsweetened tea. (Maybe Iced tea?) I add it in, just 'cause it does have a calorie or two, but I also consider it in my water intake as I hate plain water. :-)0

awesome, i normally drink herbal tea with nothing in it (no caffeine either) so i will start adding that to water intake0

how can anyone hate water? ice cold water on a hot day? water after a workout? nothing better...0

UHG! Ok, with ice its not so bad, but by itself I HATE IT! I always have, I'm weird like that. :-)0 -
Yes, as I prefer to drink a L O T of green tea, with no additions. It does count as water on my log.0

I'm assuming you put this due to caffeine being a diuretic (having a dehydrating effect). I've done some research on this, and actually as long as you are drinking low to moderate amounts of caffeine, it isn't going to act as a diuretic. The Mayo Clinic says that this effect doesn't occur unless you drink more than 500-600 mg a day. Black tea has only about 45 mg/cup, green only about 20. Chances are, unless someone is drinking a ridiculous amount of tea a day, they shouldn't be worried about the caffeine.

I count all my tea and coffee as water, since I don't drink enough to hit that threshold, though I make sure and add any calories from sugar/milk/etc.0 -

Agreed 100%.the best and free0 -
Yep, I do count herbal tea as my water, and that's exactly all it really is plus the flavor of the herbs which have zero calories.0

Excellent. That will help me alot with my intake.
Cold water is not something i'm a huge fan of most of the time unless i'm really thirsty or exercising.0 -

Ahhh, good point.
See, I only count half my tea because I drink 3+ quarts everyday of tea, which gives me LOTS of caffeine, lol.0
