New to My FitnessPal

Hello I am in my early 60's retired and within 2 months I had a heart attack and triple bypass that was 4 years ago and now I am running into more problems congested heart failure and might need a stent, I have joined My Fitness pal in hope of losing 50 lbs that I seem to be struggling with and finding heart healthy meals so if someone here could give me some direction as to where I could look on this page to find some Diabetic/cardiac diet plan with some healthy recipes that would be great. Thanks

    Hello, and welcome!

Have you asked your doctor about classes that might be available in your area, or for a referral to a registered dietitian to help you set up an eating plan? That can be helpful. Few or none of us here are medical professionals or dietitians, so it's hard to make reliable suggestions. (I'm around your age, 66, but with a different set of health issues, though weight loss did help get my cholesterol and triglycerides to a better range).

I'm not sure where you live, but the American Heart Association has information about heart-healthy eating patterns that I'd assume are accessible from anywhere on the internet:

    https://www.heart.org/en/healthy-living/healthy-eating/eat-smart/nutrition-basics/aha-diet-and-lifestyle-recommendations

That could be a place to start, until you can access some more personalized advice via your medical providers.

    Wishing you much success!

    Hello everyone,

I am 68 years old male, 6'3, and weight 260 lbs. I need to lose 35 lbs. 3 years ago I went in for a heart catherization and the doctors found my left anterior descending artery (widow maker) was 80% blocked. Thank the Lord they found the blockage. I had no prior symptoms. The following month I suffered my first epilepsy seizure and now on meds. Which make me feel bland. Add to this the doctors put me on a CPAP machine.

I know what I need to do, just lack the desire and motivation. Perhaps joining a group will inspire me to get on back on track. Thanks
