Does Estimated TEE include Calories Burned Through Exercise?

Hey Everybody,

I'm sure that this question has been answered in numerous posts prior to this, but I couldn't easily find an answer, so I'm going to ask again.

First, a little intro. I'm a 33 y/o male, 5'5, 149 lbs, lost 100 pounds over the last year through strict diet and exercise routine. I'm nervous about the maintenance portion of the diet, so I recently had my BMR measured through indirect calorimetry. . I work a desk job, where I stand most of the day, have a 3 year old son that I chase around most evenings and run 3-5 miles(30-45 mins) 3-4 times weekly.

After the test, I found that My BMR is 1742 Cals/Day; they recommended a TEE of 1.3 X REE, but it includes an estimate of 181 cals for excercise and 522 cals for lifestyle and activity. Using a heart rate monitor, my conservative estimate for a run of mine is 300+ calories. The question I have for all the experts out there; what number should I use for a maintenance diet? The REE X 1.3 that the tester suggested, or the REE+Lifestyle estimate+whatever calories I come up with for excercise?

Any info or insight would be great. Thanks!

I would start at REE x 1.3 and just monitor what happens over two weeks in terms of changes in bodyweight, and scale it up or down based on that.
