I struggled with those numbers for a long while. I found this calculator to figure out my TDEE:

Just be very honest about your activity level, and choose -20% if you have more than 10-15 pounds to lose, or 10% if 15 or less. You eat the calories it gives you and don't worry about your exercise calories, just focus on the intensity of your workouts. You may be shocked that the number is way more than what MFP starts you off with. I was plateauing for MONTHS at 1650 + whatever exercise, but I've lost 7 pounds in the past five weeks by eating at 2000 per day (my macros are 35C/35P/30F) and keeping my exercise the same. And it's WAY easier on the head to deal with just one number that doesn't fluctuate each day.
