    Hi, Corinne, and welcome!

I was a "mere youth" when I joined MFP at age 59, but have been here long enough (now 66) to know that age is no barrier to success. In some ways, I think we have advantages with age: We know ourselves pretty well; and we have lots of experience working with our own preferences, strengths and limitations to patiently achieve big goals in our lives via small steps over a period of time. (We've done it to accomplish things like getting an education, building a career, creating a home, maybe raising a family, learning complicated skill that require practice, and more.)

In many ways, weight loss is no different that other life gaols- many of the same skills apply, just a little different subject matter when it comes to details.

    Wishing you success!
