Hard to loose. Limited mobility because of knees

    I'm also in my 60s (66).

The good news is that weight loss is directly only about calorie balance, so it's possible to lose weight without any exercise at all, by managing the "calories eaten" side of things carefully.

The bad news is that if very inactive, that will require a smaller calorie budget, which is a challenge for those of us who enjoy eating (. . . in my case, maybe enjoy(ed) it a little tooooo much).

Besides exercise, any kind of movement one does will burn more calories than not doing that movement. It can be exercise, but it can also be daily life stuff.

If leg-type exercises are not possible currently, there are many videos available of chair exercises for seniors or wheelchair users and such. They range in intensity/difficulty from true beginner/limited mobility types, to quite vigorous ones for advanced wheelchair athletes, so there is a progression available as fitness increases. That kind of exercise can increase one's calorie budget (at any given rate of weight loss), make the process easier.

Also, if steps-based or other regular lower body exercise isn't feasible, pool/water exercise can be very helpful for people who have access to a pool of some type, somewhere.

The other possibility for burning more calories is to increase movement in the activities of daily life. Those calories are hard to estimate, so it doesn't really increase one's calorie budget, but it can give a little bump to the weight loss rate.

There's a long thread about that kind of thing here, with lots of people's ideas:

Some of those ideas may be impractical for you, but you may find some that are workable.

There are quite a few people here from the Boomer generation, some of whom have lost weight at our age (I'm one, lost 50+ pounds at age 59-60.)

If you want to interact with others in our age group, this is a good thread:

If you open it up, don't be dismayed if you see old posts. It's still an active "conversation". You'll find the recent posts at the end, on the high numbered pages.

Wishing you all the best - I'm confident that with commitment and patience, you can accomplish your weight management goals!
