Need advice from those with high fat macros

I posted this on the general forum, but thought maybe I'd get a better response hear.
Being a child of the 80's, I am trying to get past to "fat is bad" mentality. I love high fat foods & I always believed that was why I was fat. I've always been one to eat high fat foods over sweets. My question is - for those of you that have your fat macros set fairly high (say 40% or over; I am trying p25/f40/c35), what do you eat? Do you still stick with what most consider healthy fats - olive oil, avocados, nuts, etc? Do you watch saturated fats? When you do buy things like ground beef, do you go for the high fat version or the leaner? How do you keep within your daily calories? I have my calorie goals set at 1600 + most exercise calories. Since high fat foods have higher calories (ex. 75/25 ground beef compared to 93/7) I reach my goal quicker & feel like I can't eat as much, especially on days I don't exercise. Thanks for any advice!

I usually end up with a fair amount of fat as I often end the day with a few hundred calories, and most of my snacks are fatty because I'm going low carb and protein is expensive.
Extra-dark chocolate, natural peanut butter, and roasted almonds is where I get most of my fat. Also, starting the day with 4 eggs helps.
I maintain a very good BF% with this, just supplement with Omega 3s whenever and wherever I can.0 -
I eat a fair amount of fat as well.. I go for 85% ground beef.. Bacon .. Steak. I cook my veggies in coconut oil. I eat full fat dairy. Sunflower butter is pretty delicious really a small amount of nuts will get you there.
You'll love full fat dairy.. Tastes SO much better, and keeps you full way longer.0 -
I'm following a ketogenic diet so my fat is very high (75% of my calories come from fat) and my carbs are very low (5% of my calories come from carbs).
I do try to stick to the healthier fats like coconut oil, avocado, nuts and smaller amounts of dairy. I buy the fattier cuts of steak, 80/20 ground beef, dark meat chicken with the skin on and I never trim the fat off of my pork chops :-)
I don't have a problem going over my calorie goal (which is set at 1550) because eating high fat fills me quickly and keeps me full for a long period of time. Also, I've cut out all processed carbs and IMHO those are just empty calories that should be filled by foods that are actually beneficial. I have straight fat in the morning for "breakfast" (approx. 300 calories worth of coconut oil in my coffee but no other food), a light/medium lunch and then a larger dinner. I've found that since I'm rarely hungry and my cravings have (mostly) disappeared I hardly ever snack in between.0 -
What do you eat? Nuts/seeds/nut butter, animal/fish meat, dairy, eggs, certain veggies, ...top stuff with mayo, olive oil, butter.
Do you still stick with what most consider healthy fats - olive oil, avocados, nuts, etc? Yes.
Do you watch saturated fats? No. From animal products it shouldn't harm you.
When you do buy things like ground beef, do you go for the high fat version or the leaner? Whatever I choose. Usually fattier.
How do you keep within your daily calories? It's tough. Listen to your hunger and use calories wisely. This can be tough since you used to be able to eat relatively frequently, but once you're full on fat, if you're like me, 6-8 hours between meals is a no brainer. HIGH FIBER is important, especially with carbs!
If, for example, you find yourself just a little hungry after dinner, eat chicken... lower calorie and filling! About to workout and need carbs? Go for broccoli or a low carb/high fiber tortilla.
I was just as afraid as you are, but just go for it. Watch the movie "Fat Head" if you are still afraid.0
