For losing weight, it doesn't matter when you eat as long as you stay within your calorie goal. It may make a difference in what the scale will show. i.e. if I eat an apple before bed, the waste from that apple will still be in my system if I weigh myself first thing in the morning. Just keep that in mind when you do your weigh ins so you don't get upset if the scale doesn't show what you expect.

Was going to comment re the morning weight in not enough hours later, but already done.

I'll let you in on a top secret secret!

There exists some evidence and papers that claim some marginal benefit for people who eat breakfast--all other things being equal.

There's even some support for eating breakfast using recall studies such as the USA-based national weight control registry.

There are also studies that pretty much say that in an isocaloric environment the end results will be the same, regardless of the type of food and timing. There are also some studies that suggest that timing and types of food can influence peak athletic performance and training.

    And none of this matters.

Because what really matters in terms of getting a grip on controlling your weight, is whatever it is that will enable you to maintain overall compliance for long enough. And then for even longer than that!!!

So here we are a good eight years plus since I decided that I needed to improve on my health, activity level, and the way my weight was negatively impacting all of the above!

I was eating most of my food and calories at night before 2014, I ate most of my food and calories at night during the two and a half year time period I got rid of about 125lb, and I've continued to eat most of my calories and food during non daylight hours during the more than five years my weight has been relatively stable in the 150 to 160 range -- with a vast majority of that spent in the 153 to 157 range.

Weight changed. Eating most of my food in the evening didn't change. Having _most_ of my overeating episodes at night also didn't change. Balancing overall calories reasonably? That *did* change!!!

Work to bend what you've got towards where you need to be. Some eggs will break and will become omelette... and some chocolate Easter eggs will make their way to your mouth less often.

But overall take a clear look at what you're willing and able to compromise on long-term and work to find a way to live with what you're not willing to change...
