Beet juice for hypertension

I have controlled hypertension by taking prescription medicine. I read that beet juice will lower blood pressure for about 6 hours after drinking. I’d like to take it mid morning when my BP naturally begins to rise as a supplement along with my medicine. Beet juice is high in sugar. Can taking beet capsules as a supplement have the same result in lowering BP and if yes, can you recommend the dosage in mg? Thanks for sharing!
