I work in an office 8-5. I work out after work at 6 then go home eat and in bed by 9. Would it be better to eat a bigger meal in the afternoon and a light dinner after the workout?

This is highly individual. Some people don't do well exercising after a heavy meal; others do better with a good-size fuel-up before exercise. Some people don't sleep well shortly after a big meal; others find it hard to sleep if their stomach is empty-ish. Do what works for you.2
