Please help with healthy recipes

HI
I am from Waco Texas and I am looking to lose 50 lbs. I am 49 y.o. male and currently weigh 295. I am struggling to know what foods are best at burning fat over time as well as any delicious recipe that will help me on my quest to get back into teaching history which is my passion. Thanks.

SGH

Foods don't really burn fat. Our bodies burn stored body fat when we eat fewer calories' worth of food than the number of calories we burn in any way, from just being alive breathing with a heart beat, through daily life activity, from intentional exercise, and a few other minor things.

IMO, IMU, the best eating strategy for helping our body burn calories well is to get good well-rounded overall nutrition, i.e., enough protein, enough healthy fats, and plenty of varied, colorful veggies and fruits for micronutrients and fiber. Lots of different foods can contribute to good nutrition. Recipes that sound good to you, are affordable and practical for you to make, that add up/average out to good nutrition over the day (or few) - those would be fine.

Lots of sites in the blogosphere make this stuff sound more complicated than it is (because if it's complicated, we're more likely to feel overwhelmed, buy whatever they're selling as the weight loss magic trick). It's not that complicated.

Get a calorie goal from MFP. Plan to lose weight at a sensibly moderate pace, no more than 0.5-1% of current weight weekly. The MFP macronutrient goals (protein and fats, especially) are a good start, to try to come close to daily. (It doesn't have to be exact. Close is fine.) The calories are the thing that triggers weight loss, the nutrients are about health, energy level, satiation, and that sort of thing. There's some flexibility there, because humans are adaptive omnivores. You don't have to be perfect on day one, it's fine to gradually work at improving your nutrition.

For recipes, check out the MFP blogs' recipe area, direct link here:

I think they have some email newsletters you can sign up for, too, someplace, that have recipes.

The Recipes part of the Community also has some some good recipes, or you can ask for specific ideas there. Here's a direct link to that:

Just work at it, stick with it, you can reach your goals. Best wishes!

I am a pretty simple person for food. I buy a lot of chicken. I make chicken and use sauces (just enough for flavor but not drowned). The sauces I use are like spicy Asian or sweet Korean bulgogi or jarred tikka masala sauce. The I make some brown rice or quinoa and a bunch of veggies. That's my dinner many nights. For lunch I eat soup and a bunch of fruit or I eat a lower calorie frozen meal and a bunch of fruit or I eat leftovers and a bunch of fruit. For breakfast I eat oats made with water and some fruit. For my snacks, I eat a bag of Skinny Girl popcorn or an apple or both. I weight and measure every single thing I eat. I'm down 42 lbs since August. I'm not super huge into recipes. Earlier this week, I made frozen cheese tortellini with red sauce and a salad. I eat the salad first, and then I ate 15 tortellini and 1/3 cup of sauce. For me it's about portion control more than anything. Good luck in your journey. I'm a high school teacher myself.

    HI
what foods are best at burning fat

There's no such thing. Anyone who says otherwise is either simply misinformed or lying to sell you something/clickbait.

Also, genuine question - how does this help you get back to teaching history? Absolutely not being snarky, I'm just not making the connection here?
