Losing weight

I want to lose 10 lbs. Trying for the last 6 months at 1200 calories per day, with some days that I miss the mark. I maybe will lose 2, with the weight instantly bounding back. I'm 71, 5'4" at 150 lbs.

So, at your current weight, weightloss will be super slow. Think 0.5lbs per week likely. Thus this is a 500 calorie deficit per day. With such a small deficit you have to be extra thorough. Did you use a foodscale and weigh everything in grams? If not then I urge you to do that and weigh everything that has calories, including cooking oil and other condiments, milk in tea, etc. Also don't forget to measure all other fluids that have calories. Also check the database entries you chose are correct as many aren't. Just underestimating cooking oil on a dinner can easily result in 100 calories extra or more. Add to that a cooked breakfast and lunch, and your deficit is nearly gone. Or eating out every day: you have no idea whether the food served to you is exactly the right amount as on the menu/website. Usually it's more, and hence more calories. Also do log those days were you don't log. It might be eye-opening how much you eat. Maybe it's even enough to wipe out the deficit of a whole week if you do that once per week.
