Loose fat gain muscle

Hi I’m 42, 5ft 5 and 9stone. I’m looking to loose some belly fat but gain muscle in all other areas. I’m currently in a calorie deficit, so consuming 1600 calories per day, made up of 50% carbs 25% protein and 25% fat. How long should I stay doing this for? Someone mentioned I should increase my protein intake and reduce the carbs? What do you recommend?
