Hey guys! I have a question but it didnt really fit into any of the other MFP categories so I figured I could label it as chit-chat. I was recently diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid. I go and get an ultrasound of my thyroid in two weeks. Im not really sure the point. It wasnt really explained to me. I know absolutely nothing about hyperthyroidism. What is the purpose of the ultrasound? How will this affect my weightloss journey? Any advice?

You can Google hyperactive thyroid. Look at medical sites, like Mayo Clinic or WebMD.

But why don't you wait until you see your doctor, do the ultrasound, and get a firm diagnosis.

Maybe post a topic "Hyperactive Thyroid" in general diet and weight loss. There's bound to be some people who can give you tips. Although before you do that try a MFP and google search because the info is most likely out there already

I have hypothyroidism. When I get an ultrasound it is to check for goiter (oversized thyroid, because the gland is working too hard to produce enough hormones) as well as tumors. I'm not sure about hyperthyroidism, though.
Usually, being hyper means that you can lose weight more easily, but heart palpitations, among other things are not fun.
