I was told that I may have a chance of developing diabetes in the next five years, if I wasn’t careful with my diet and exercise. What foods should I avoid?

Avoid foods that are in excess of your current calorie needs, mostly.
Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight helps avoid diabetes - one of the most important factors. Getting regular exercise helps avoid diabetes. Getting well-rounded nutrition (within the right number of calories) helps avoid diabetes: That means get enough protein, enough healthy fats, plenty of varied, colorful veggies and fruits. Get enough good quality sleep.
Doing the right things is more important than avoiding supposedly wrong ones. Avoiding excess/immoderate alcohol would probably be one counter-example to that general guideline.2 -
Did your doctor not give you resources on this???2
