Explode Recipe

Currently you can create recipes and add them to you diary. However, it is impossible to view or change the individual components of this recipe directly in the diary.
It happens quite often that I use a recipe but change some ingredients. Either because they weren't available or because I feel like changing it up. Also, I might use different amounts depending on my available macro's for that day.

It would be great if we could select a recipe and then explode the recipe in the diary view to edit the ingredients for that day. And yes, this means that a recipe is basically a bulk add for a selection of foods.

I think you would be happy using an existing functionality on MFP: the Meals function! Meals are collections of foods, you can save them and when you add them to your diary (in the quantity you want, for example only half of the recipe) it adds the individual ingredients to your diary, where you can tweak the quantities and proportions.

I never use the recipe builder, only the Meals function.

    Hi @paulwiggers

You can edit a recipe or copy it and just alter the new variation slightly. The edit/copy/remove recipe functions are only available on the website. www.myfitnesspal.com (then use your username/password to log in)

Click the 'Food' tab. Then select the 'Recipes' sub-tab. Once that opens, hover over the recipe you want to work with and you'll see 'Edit, Copy, or Remove' on the right side of the recipe title.

    Hope this helps :)
