UPs and Downs- No change this time

Hello everyone! My weight has yo-yo'd throughout my life. But after a bad visit to the doctor and bad lab reports, I've decided that I really need to get this weight off. I have about 30lbs to lose. I've done it before. So I've started calorie tracking and swimming. I'm on day 5 and I haven't lost even an oz. In fact this morning I gained!! What in the world?

In the past I've lost weight right at the start..usually a lot before it later slows down. Why is it being so stubborn this time?

Be patient, and be willing to do something different this go-round, if you want it to be a life-long change. Quick changes tend to come and go. Life-long habit changes stick around and create long-standing weight and health changes.

Weight will fluctuate, especially for women. Weighing daily can help you see those changes, but if they’re throwing you for a loop, try a trending app like Libra or Happy Scale to help settle out that trend line. Fluid levels, hormonal levels, the amount of yesterday’s food (poop) still in your gut all affect your scale reading and have absolutely nothing to do with your body’s fat or long-term weight. Your muscles might be more sore and inflamed as they heal from a workout, even the normal process as they heal from exercise carries more water with it and affects the scale.

How are you tracking your calories? Are you using measuring spoons and cups? Are you weighing your food with a food scale?

If you give more info, like your height, weight, age, activity level, goal weight, etc, people might be able to chime in with more detailed advice.
