Trying a new strategy

Well... a new strategy for me anyway. Starting today, I'm having my husband take pictures of me from the front, side and back. (He hates this. He's supportive of my efforts and wants me to be happy, but thinks this is unnecessary roughness. Thank you, Lord, for husbands like this!) I'll do this at each 10-pound-loss increment wearing the same thing so I can get an accurate assessment. I've set up a table using these pictures, along with weight and measurements and a comments section. I'm a visual learner, so theoretically, seeing what's really there (versus what I think is there) will be a motivator.

Sounds like a good plan. Just remember we all slip sometimes. Please expect the best out of yourself but don't over react on tiny set backs. I will say a little prayer for your progress.0

It's a good idea if that works for you.
For myself No. Even after losing 60 pounds.. I have a hard time looking at myself and noticing a change.
I say go for it though, if it helps you ;0)0 -
Good idea!! I was looking around on here at different ways everyone does their weight loss journey and pictures really come in handy with being able to see the difference! I just took pics last week! I think it will help motivate me further, especially when I see more progress. Good luck! You can do it!0

My mom was a photographer, and also very overweight. She'd taken pictures of herself in the nude (in the mirror) weekly to motivate herself. When she was dying, that and her porn collection were the two things she wanted to be sure I got rid of before anyone else got into her house.
If you're clothed, I don't think you'll have the same concern that she did. And it was working for her before she got ill.0 -
I think it is a great idea s well, just tell your husband you need his help on this because it is too difficult to take accurate full body pictures of yourself.
There was a woman who posted on here recently about her before and afters, she had 4 pics of herself, not only is her weight loss noticable but so is the expression and overall look of her face.
I want to do the same thing but I just don't have anyone to ask to take the pictures, maybe i can get my sister to do it.
SOmeone also stated on a forum yesterday that although they had lost 60lbs it was hard to think of themselves as a non-fat person she still saw her old self when she looked in the mirror, pictures are a great way to get that visual.0 -
I like that idea! I think I might start doing that cause I just hit 229 this morning0

That can work well. Since I work out, I forget that muscle weighs more than fat. So, when I don't see the scale move, even after being such a stickler to the diet, I get frustrated. I started taking mobile pics, and I save them with the date. It helps to see the difference every ten pounds. I've done this in the past, and even when you don't see a difference b/w some of them, it's amazing to grab the first pic you ever took and take one today!0
