Why Does Food Diary Add Calories for Exercise

My understanding is amr accounts for your activity level.

My bmr is 1700. My amr is 2300 (lightly active multiplier of 1.375), and I subtract 1000 calories for a 2 lbs/day loss pace.

So I aim for 1300 calories.

But when I exercise, the food diary adds the calories I burn to that day as I have those available. However, aren't those burnt calories already accounted for in my amr? I feel I shouldn't be eating more than the 1300 calories given the logic above...

Your chosen Activity Level should not factor in any additional exercise you do- This should represent your normal day-to-day activity. Any exercise you perform should be considered to be in addition to your Activity Level.

What else is the difference between:

Lightly active, Active, and Very Active

if the difference is not exercise?

The math I'm seeing indicates MFP is using this selection as a multiplier to get an amr...which does indeed include exercise.

I've researched more, and it appears I'm wrong. The amr doesn't include exercise. It just your typical physical movement throughout the day. So I'm not getting enough calories on workout days.

    Thanks.
