If you are sore from a workout do you push through or give your body a day in between to recover? Any advice??

Personally i belive in 2 kinds of sore.

    1. Body is so sore i almost feel sick. I could try and go to the gym but my muscles would ache too much to even make any progress.
    2. I feel really sore but when i start lifting, exercising, the pain gets less and almost all of the time it disappears completely.

A rule of thumb i grew up with.
If you think you should recover 1 more day, do it. As long as its in your body, not in your mind.

It depends on the severity and where your are sore, if it's your legs, you could always work upper body and vice versa.

I have had major DOMS in my hamstrings since Tuesday, to the point I cannot bend down to pick something up at all!

It's fine to workout while sore. Start warming up and it will usually be mostly gone.

I think it depends on where you are in your routine "continuum." If you are just starting, yes, I would give yourself a break - altogether or as suggested, work on something else. If you are simply pushing yourself and experience some soreness, I would try to work through it. There is no science to this, it is just my opinion (gawd, can ya tell I am a little sensitive! The boards have been brutal lately).

There is no cure for muscle soreness other than more exercise. Have a lightly active day with easy exercise such as walking or swimming, or take a rest if you really want to. Things like ice packs, heat, baths, etc. aren't very effective.
