History repeats itself... but this time I'll learn from it.

Hello everyone,
My name is Erielle, and I have been down this road of attempting to lose weight for many years now.
I had some success in middle school and, more recently, 2016 but life got in the way and I had gained everything I lost — and more... at least, I had told myself that it was because of life.
So now, I find myself at 285 lbs and I am beyond disappointed in myself for allowing this to happen — for allowing it to get this far.
My first instinct is to just starve myself, dive into fad diets and do self-destructive behaviors to drop the weight faster. But, it's what I've done before over and over, and the weight loss never lasted.
It's just not sustainable.
So now, I want this new journey I'm embarking in to count.
I'm sick and tired of this yo-yo behavior, and I just want to go on with my life without this lingering disappointment in myself.
So, I'm asking for help.
If any of you have any suggestions on how to get started or things I should start doing (drink more water, drink tea, etc.) please feel free to tell me!
No Keto, no Atkins no fad diets.
Slow and steady wins the race after all...
Thank You in advance, and I wish the best of luck to those also looking to change their life around. ♥️
