Motivation

Motivation To do exercises. I seem to always talk myself out of leaving the house and going to the gym. My household is not health-conscious and it’s very lonely to stay on a healthy meal plan.
Any suggestions out there?

Exercise doesn't have to be in a gym. I'm personally not a big gym person and only go twice per week for my strength training. Go outside and do something that is active and fun.

I exercise because I enjoy the feeling I get after working hard. I may or may not be in the mood when I start, but I do it anyway because I know how I'll feel when I'm finished. After years of exercising almost every day, discipline and habit get me out there whether I feel motivated or not. I know that I will be happier if I do than if I don't do it.

As Cwolfman said, find something you enjoy doing. Then do it. Don't wait on motivation, just do it.

Make it a habit, just a part of your everyday life.
Do you need motivation to shower? To brush your teeth?
Likely not, because they are just routine.

Do something you find more fun, so fun that you want to do it. It doesn't have to be a gym.

You could walk, hike, bike, skate, dance, follow exercise videos of many types online, learn a martial art, swim, rock climb, canoe, play tennis, skateboard, kayak, play frisbee, jump rope, play softball, row, run/jog, take a high-physicality part-time job, ski, play on the monkey bars at the park, plant and tend a vegetable garden (at a community garden if your home doesn't have a yard), volunteer someplace where you can run around and play with small children, . . . I could go on for days here, but I won't.

This is not the fault of your household. This is about you and your choices, period. Motivation is fleeting at best. Commitment, discipline, habits are things with more power.

Do you think about whether you should brush your teeth, talk yourself out of doing it? I doubt it. Most of us don't even think about it, we just do it because it needs to be done, or we want the benefits from doing it. Do that with being more active. It needn't even be official "exercise". Just move more.

Bonus, if you pick some activity that's fun.

P.S. If you find something fun to do that's at a place where other people do that or similar things, you can make new friends who are active, so be less lonely, besides. Maybe take an active class? I've made active friends that way.
