linking to new Garmin

Hi. I just got a new Garmin vivoactive 3 after my last one was lost to the sea! I've also switched to using Garmin express on the pc to connect it and access garmin connect. All that went well but when it try to link my fitness pal it gives me the error message 'That MyFitnessPal account is already connected with a Garmin Connect account. Please try another'.
I did have my old watch connected to the garmin connect app on my phone but have no idea how to resolve this. Anyone have any advise please?
