I don't get it. !! why to eat multiple times instead of taking 3 proper meals with limited calories! If multiple times eating or short snacks helps metabolism to work fast why not to eat the main meals with sufficient need?
I am from south asia and here we have the rituals of taking 3 proper meals and Its somewhat like a custom to follow, sitting with the family members three times a day ..
i usually have a breakfast with pita bread with boiled egg..as i have to go for my classes at 8 am.in lunch I have rice, vegetables and lentils...we usually have tea or some other snacks in the evening adn after 8 pm I dont eat anything..but i have to stay up till 2 am..so I literally starve :grumble :
what would help me if i want to maintain the 3 meals a day plan with my sufficient calorie intake which is 1200 cal ?

Eating lots of small meals never worked for me. I ended up losing all consistency in my diet - was always going way over or way under my goals. Don't get too hung up on doing things the ideal way - just go with what works for you.0

Eating small meals a day doesn't boost your metabolism, that's a myth that has been debunked for a while now
Eat when you are hungry, some people like me eat only 2 big meals a day and don't have breakfast until many many hours after waking up and there is nothing wrong with that either
Eat when you are hungry regardless of the time0 -
Calorie deficit is what's important. Eat whenever you want and however much at a time as long as you stay within your calories.
ETA: And you can eat after 8 p.m. if you want. Doesn't matter at all.0 -
Most of these rules (small meals, don't eat after 8, etc.) are designed for psychological, not metaboic reasons. 8pm and later is typically when people are most likely to mindlessly snack while watching tv, so not eating then prevents this. Small meals more often help a lot of people not feel deprived because it's never very long until you eat again, so you can maintain willpower a little easier. If you don't need to trick your brain, then there is no reason to eat small meals. It's all a matter of personal preference. As long as you maintain a healthy deficit, you'll be fine.0

The fitness world in general already knows this. But your friends probably don't. Prove your friends wrong.
I've lost weight on both 5-6 meals a day and 2-3 meals a day.
The only difference was 2-3 meals a day was easier in terms of the amount of work I had to do. Preparing 6 meals a day is not fun, nor is counting the calories for 6 separate meals.0
