help with my fitness pal please

I have an iPhone and have downloaded the app. Seem to be a little lost in finding how to join the community and how to meet people with similar goals - any tips please?

    Welcome to MFP.

You found the community. It’s here. You’re part of it.

    Go here to find posts:
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories

Or here, in the More tab at the bottom of the app:

My takeaway, after using the app for three and a half years is, the members who engage and participate in the community, read the boards and learn from them have an exponentially greater chance of success than the drive bys who only post once to introduce themselves.

I started shaky, with “ignurnt” questions til I found my feet and was successful. There’s a definite learning curve to get there, but there’s no “there” at all if you give up in the first week or two or ten.

@Piperhally I’m so happy to see you’re still here! That puts you way ahead of the curve already!

There’s several ways to find responses.

First of all, if you want to follow a particular thread, click the flag at the top and turn it blue, like this:

It will show up in your following list any time someone replies.

Some people will flag you by using @ to show up in your feed. So if you reply or want to hear from someone in particular, stick an @ sign in front of their name like I did above. @Piperhally

If someone’s done that to you, you’ll be notified “someone mentioned you”.

This is where you find your followed lists and notifications on the boards:

There’s a sorta similar system for your private friends list. I can’t tell if you have friends. I’ll send you a friend request so you can dip your toe in, if you like. No obligation.
