Non-intrusive advertising

I understand that your free service is based on my willingness to look at advertising and accept this. However, I’m getting a slew of pop-ups that occupy the entire screen and that I can’t close. I have no idea how long they run before displaying an x to close because I close the app instantly and reopen it, but I see them long enough to develop a lifelong irritation at the advertiser and refusal to use their services.
