I just joined about 5 days ago. Every day (except one), I have been under my protein goal even though I'm usually a little bit under my calorie goal (15-75 calories under). However, I find that I'm sometimes going over my fats goal. So any ideas on how to get in extra protein without the fat?

Tuna is great for salad and low in fat!
    Egg whites rock to!
Any kind of fish or seafood
    cottage cheese
    Chicken or Turkey
    Good luck!

Egg whites, skim milk, protein powder, lean chicken breast, lean turkey, fat free cottage cheese, fat free plain greek yogurt (Fage is a great brand).

Hard boiled egg whites are great and dry cottage cheese works too!

Jennie-O makes some turkey that is 99% fat free - 4 oz. of the ground turkey has only 1.5g of fat, or something like that. I'd also recommend egg whites, non-fat or low-fat dairy (cottage cheese, milk, etc. -- just watch the sodium content), black beans have a decent amount of protein and very low fat, (probably other beans, too), quinoa is a grain that is fat-free, but very high in protein (for a grain). It just takes time reading labels and learning how to fit all your meals together to meet your nutrition goals - kind of like putting together a puzzle.

Feel free to look at my food diary - I'm usually pretty high in protein (30%) and at or below 20% of my calories from fat.

    Good luck!

Oh! I totally forgot Tuna - I love it... almost no fat, very high protein. Just try to buy the lower-sodium brands if you're buying canned tuna.

I poach eggs and meat instead of using oil when I'm feel like I need to cut back on fat.

All good answers. I also really love Schneiders Fat Free fully cooked smoked ham. I use it in salads and in egg white omlettes.

*I have to work REALLY hard to get enough protein in daily - so I use the REAL EGGS - liquid (Costco) for fat free eggs - like 5-7 egg servings a day! I buy it by case of 8 containers and keep in the freezer - take one out every other day!
    * aslo the Premier Protein Plus bars (good price at Costco too) have 30 grams protein w/ 6 grams fat. Seems to work for me!
    * Last - Cytosport Protein Plus WHEY Powder - 27 grams protein - put it in fat-free milk - w/ ice - tastes like you are eating ice cream!
    * Yes - and -( I buy it in bulk at Costco too) canned tuna/salmon/chicken in water!
    * Wait till you see HOW MUCH MORE Energy you have when you max out your complete protein ! Your going to LOVE it!
