Struggling to lose weight

I recently just started on the 25th of May. I have not lost any weight in the past two weeks and weighed in this morning and gained two lbs! Why is thus happening? I have found myself eating late at night but it's still within my calorie range.

Hi @jennilee2009 welcome to MFP.
Frustrating, huh? Bear with it. Allow yourself at least six weeks or two monthly (female kind) cycles. If you’re truly eating less than you’re taking in, whatever is masking actual fat loss will start to relax it’s grip.
There’s soooo many reasons weight loss may not show up immediately.
Lots of new people hurl themselves into exercise, thinking that will speed up the process. What happens instead is extreme muscle soreness. Did you know your body can retain many, many pounds of water weight to help with healing and recovery of soreness? The more those thighs hurt from squats, the more water weight you’re hanging on to. I exercise regularly but can still gain 4-6 pounds during a period of soreness. You’ll pee it out at some point.
When’s your monthly? Most ladies gain water weight in the run up to it.
Have you changed your eating habits? I remember adopting a certain brand of protein bars that absolutely played havoc with my digestion. Have you switched to more fiber-filled foods? Same thing.
Constipation can cause temporary weight gain.
Trying to do super low calories can also cause weight gain, for a bunch a reasons too complex to explain here.
Did you travel recently? Cabin pressure in planes, long distance drives- both can cause temporary weight gain.
I started aquafit classes about two months ago, and doggone it if I’m not up three pounds after every pool session- even when I’m completely dry. I guess water lodges in my pores. I’m still scratching my head over that, but it happens so predictably I know to expect it now.
Did you eat something extra salty? Unusually high in carbs?
How’s your weighing and logging? Are you using a scale? Weighing everything in grams? Logging everything? I know for me, I would forget to enter foods eaten in the middle of the night, simply by token if being addle brained at that hour, or being in a huff at myself for doing it in the first place.
There’s literally 1001 things to make you hold on to weight temporarily and to absolutely faff with your mind. Stick it out and eventually everything will start to come into focus.
In the meantime, tell us your height, current weight and calorie goal and we’ll be glad to see if you’ve got a reasonable plan.
Hugs to you! You’ve been here two weeks. That shows some gumption versus 95% of everyone else who created an account and quit within 24 hours because it was “too hard” or “too inconvenient”. The good things in life don’t come ease. Trite but true.4 -
Good advice up there! ^
Measure accurately (gram scale). Log faithfully. Trust the process. Just keep going.2
