Not so easy in your fifties

Any females in their 50's and menopausal that is struggling to loose weight?? l never used to struggle but WHAO l'm struggling now😩l'm walking in average of 15000 steps per day, l weigh & list everything l eat to 1250 calories daily but in 2 wks l've lost a pound👎l only need to loose about half a stone which a few years ago wouldn't have been a problem now it's a struggle😭 l'm not on any meds so that's not an issue, anybody got any suggestions????

So you only need to lose 7 lbs and have lost a half a lb a week?
Actually you're right on track. Even doing better than others who say those last few lbs are hell to get off.
So, my suggestion is to be grateful you didn't gain that lb and find some patience.9 -

So you are on track with having lost 0.5lbs per week. That's the highest you should go with so little to lose. And yeah, it's going to be very slow. The heavier you are the bigger your calorie deficit can be and the faster the weightloss.4

Another way to look at it: slow and steady weight loss won’t affect energy levels, skin or hair as much as fast weight loss. Being menopausal you need to give yourself as much love and support as you can, so slow and steady definitely wins the race. We’ve got enough crap going on with lack of sleep, hot flushes, anxiety and weird moods without starving ourselves. Your weight loss rate sounds perfect, keep doing what you’re doing!4

Slow and steady. Be gentle with yourself- your body is transitioning and is not predictable. If you can lose the weight slowly and stay healthy you are WAY ahead of the game.
Add lots of water, check your diet for phyto-estogens and add some lovely non-weight goals to your regime.
For example- a good quality body cream every evening or morning...hair masque once a week, lymph massage, brow tweak... any of the self care that is kind and nurturing to your body -I did a monthly spray tan through menopause because I looked thinner and made me feel better. Good luck!3 -

I'm losing nothing. I lost 5lbs the first week, which was probably water, and now I'm the same for a month. I'm in my late 40s though, but while I stay below the calories, my body will not drop weight. It's incredibly frustrating. I have a 20lb goal but at this rate I'll hit it maybe in 20570

You might need to lower your calories just a little more. How many calories are you eating?0 -
I’m 53 and menopausal. When I was peri at around 46-47 I was at my peak fitness. I also did not have a lot to lose-about 20 lbs. .5 lbs per week is perfect. You don’t want to lose too quickly as you can lose more muscle and bone density can suffer with fast weight loss. I gained some weight back during the pandemic and I’m working toward a goal of 120 and the same things are working for me-consistency, eating at a small deficit, lifting weights and doing about 300 calories worth of cardio daily. The only thing I notice that is different now is that I’m more tired at 53 than I was at 46. I find I’m not as active in my normal daily life.1
