This is really a stretch but I’m desperate.

Anybody here from Germany? I need advice on how to find an apartment. I don’t know how it works over there, and I’m being told the rental market is insane. Please friend me if you’ve got advice on where to start, or how to stand out from the “millions” of applications they say each place is getting. .

I’ve been told that you have to place ads and landlords will contact you, but that just seems ineffective and old school and dangerous and potentially scammy to me.

I’m sure you already know this, but due to the bots etc, I have to ACCEPT you as a friend before you can PM me.

I don’t speak German. My tenant is fluent and employed. Looking specifically in Münster.

Thanks so so so much.

If this were a Dear Abby letter, you could sign me

I am based in Munich, Germany. Yes, the apartment situation really is crazy. I would primarily look at ads on https://www.wg-gesucht.de/ and https://www.immobilienscout24.de/ for an apartment. You should write to the landlords whose apartments you like. Let me know If I can help you in any way. I don't speak German but I will try.

Thanks. They’ve tried to contact re: several places on the second but they rent almost as soon as they post. The other is seeking roommates (?). They’re looking for a small private apartment.

yea, decent places are gone within the hour. When I was looking, I realized that I had to give an answer on the spot or the apartment would be gone before the end of the day.
