Big toe(nail) pain?

Okay my working out friends, a little while after starting these aerobic walking exercises (Leslie Sansone Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan), my left big toe has been hurting almost like under the nail. It gets a little better when I'm not exercising, but when I am exercising it always starts to hurt. Some of the pain/discomfort goes through the top of my foot too and some down in the arch and ball of my foot. Too much walking-type exercising?? Any thoughts or suggestions?
I'm really loving these videos and the results I'm getting, but man I just can't keep doing them if my foot is going to feel like this. Today was only 2 miles and my foot has been bothering me most of the day now, especially here this evening and I did my workout at 6am. I don't want to not do my 5 mile walk tomorrow, but if it's something with the walking and other exercises I'm doing in there I don't want to do it and cause more issues, I thought maybe my toe nails were getting too long or something so I trimmed them this morning after working out and my toe is still hurting.
Toe isn't swollen that I can tell...is not hot or red or anything...it just, well, hurts. tonight its been my toe and the arch of my foot.
Thanks for any help/suggestions

Some thoughts that come to mind are:
Shoes too small? Too tight?
Shoes worn out?
I know you said you trimmed your nails, but if they were too long and that was cause, they'll hurt a bit until it heals. '
Try working out with a different pair of shoes; proper ones for the type of exercises you're doing and see if that helps.0 -
Several years back I lost my big toenail after experiencing the same symptoms you are. Looking back, my shoes were too narrow in the toe box.0

Dammit, I clicked on this thread now all my banner ads are about toenail infections...0

Any chance you have arthritis in the joint of the big toe? Look up Hallux Rigidus as well.0

generally, it's difficult to have too much walking-type exercising, so that's not the most likely problem.
Do you have the same pain if you switch to different shoes or go barefoot? It's possible that it's the shoes.
If you have the same pain regardless of footwear, I would check with a doctor.0
