Thank you everyone for your response, I've decided to see a nutritionnist to help me monitor my weightloss and he asked me to do some blood work to help assess the situation.
Thank you for making me aware of an eventual health problem, I'll keep you updated

A REALLY quick google search brings those symptoms up of (non diabetic) hypoglycemia.

A REALLY REALLY quick google search. :)

Yeah. She's saying that even eating a banana doesn't fix it, though.

Oooo she did. I kinda skimmed instead of fully rereading the post first.

But....we all know the sugar in fruit is different than the sugar in cookies, right?????

    :)

Disclaimer for newbies: It. Is. Not.

    Can you elaborate?

It means sugar is sugar no matter where it comes from 🤷‍♀️

Oh wow I totally didn't know that .. so the fiber in fruits doesn't make breaking down the glucose and absorbing it any different ? Is the glycemic index all a lie? Omg thank you so much for enlightening me with your knowledge 🤯

The GI is not a lie.

Sugar in things like wholemeal bread will break down slower than sugar in candy.

Which can make a difference in avoiding sugar spikes, satiety etc

But it is all sugar in the end.

Update: Hi everyone, I am back with my blood work and from seeing a doctor, According to my results, I have insulin resistance which contributes to the weight gain and causes low blood sugar even if my body is producing more insulin than it should.
Thanks again for your suggestions and good luck everyone

Glad you got some answers! Even though it's probably not what you wanted to hear, now that you know what you're fighting you can target it. Good luck!

Sorry for the delayed answer, I've just seen your comment.

I've been seing a nutritionist who prescribes me a weekly meal plan that have been tailored around my blood work results. The meal plan does not inculde any addes sugar which we hope would help bring down my blood sugar (which was on the limit) otherwise I would be put on medication for a few months.
The first three days were hard but the discomfort was not as intense as when I tried to follow my own meal plan. I've noticed that he increased my protein and fat intake and reduced my carb intake (I still get to eat as much vegetables as I please, fruits and bread, rice, ... are kep under control).
Also, he makes sure I don't snack often. I get 4 meals a day spaced by at least 4 hours as each meal makes the body produce insulin in order to process that food. So being insulin resistant, having too frequent meals (and producing insulin) makes the organs even more "numb" to it so it gets stored as fat instead of being processed.

You can watch "How to reverse insulin resistance" from Dr. Eric Berg DC on youtube which gives an idea about how it works.

Please keep in mind I am not a health professionnal, this is my understanding of the situation and everyone's body and needs are different.
The one advice I have for you is to see a doctor if it's possible for you, preferably one that specialises in treating obesity.
I am 31 YO and have been battling with obesity fot a long time and my only regret is not seeking medical help earlier. So please if you can see a doctor, do so.

    I wish you good luck
